What Can I Expect After My Vasectomy

It can take several months, if not longer, to see a return of motile sperm and a normal sperm count. The return of sperm is typically faster after a vasovasostomy then an epididymovasostomy.   After a bypass procedure (epididymovasostomy) it can take six to twelve months to see the presence of sperm in the ejaculate. Remember, the presence of sperm doesn't necessarily mean a normal count or pregnancy.

Success after a vasectomy is measured by the presence of sperm after a reversal and whether or not your partner becomes pregnant.  Success rates vary depending on the length of time since a vasectomy, the type of procedure performed, and age of the female partner.
